Shiba Maggon

Nicknamed the “Queen” of Indian basketball, Shiba Maggon is a former India captain, qualified referee and current Indian senior team women’s coach. Maggon, along with Snehal Bendke jointly became the first FIBA certified international women’s referees from India.

As Coach, Maggon is known for mentoring a number of talented players. Maggon’s basketball journey began after her elder sister passed away. Her sister’s death inspired Shiba to pursue basketball seriously. She joined SAI Chandigarh hostel and later was a member of the Indian Railways team. Maggon subsequently moved to MTNL, Delhi. She was a member of the Delhi state team that won an impressive senior nationals gold by beating the heavily favoured Railways.

Maggon has also been the coach of the Haryana Gold franchise in the UBA Pro Basketball League.

Maggon is one of the most followed Indian basketball personalities on social media.
