Noida, 12th June 2019: India’s premier club championship, the 33rd Federation Cup National Basketball Championship for Men and Women has tipped off at the Gautam Buddha University, in Greater Noida.
Conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association, this year’s championship is seeing nine men’s teams and eight women’s teams take part.

Like in previous editions, this year too, the Federation Cup is being played in a league cum knockout format. The league rounds will be held between 12th – 14th June followed by the knockouts on 15th and 16th June.
Kerala women and Indian Overseas Bank men are the defending champions.
In women section, Eastern Railway started their campaign with a win over Delhi by a score line of 97-62 . Poonam Chatturvedi top scored for Eastern Railway with 27 points
In another women’s match, Kerala started off with a 62-43 win over the home team Uttar Pradesh with Kerala’s Anjana P G top scoring with 18 points.
In another women’s match, Maharashtra got better over Chhattisgarh ( 81- 53) .International Sriti Aravind lead the scoring for Maharashtra with 24 points
In Men’s division, Indian Army kicked off the tournament with an exciting victory over Central Railways ( 90-77). Veteran forward Gopal Ram-who has also represented India on the international stage scored 23 points.
